Many students think that how they will find accommodation because they do not have friends or relatives in India. Out of these all ways, that I have discussed in this post, one will definitely work for you in finding room or accommodation in Canada as an international student from India.
If you are getting accommodation or rooms in higher rent initially, then also you can book that for one or two months and later you can shift to another room which is in your affordable. Let dive into the post.
Relatives or friends
If you are in India and want to find accommodation in Canada as an international student for the initial days, then first look for relatives or friends. If your relatives are living in Canada, then for the first few days live with them. After living in Canada for few days it will get easier for you to find accommodation.
If your friends are already living in the same area in which you are going then say them to look for a room for rent. If they find the room in their area, then it will be good for you because you will get accommodation and the company of your friend also.
So, these are the two ways using which you can find the accommodation in Canada as an international student from India.
Kijiji
Another option is the Kijiji platform on which you can search the accommodation of your teste. Kijiji is like OLX of Canada. Kijiji will also help you in many ways not only for accommodation but also for a part-time job.
If you are in India, then go to the website of Kijiji and search for your area + available room. For example- if your college area is Seneca Newnham then search Seneca Newnham available rooms. Once you search, you will get lots of rooms for accommodation and you can choose out of them if accommodation matches your preference like pricing, facility, area, etc.
Hence, it is also a way using which you can find accommodation in Canada as an international student from India.
If you are not able to find an accommodation using Kijiji or through friends and relatives then you can find your accommodation in Canada using Facebook also. If you go to Facebook ads or Facebook search bar and then search about the available accommodation near your area, then you may see a list of available rooms or accommodation. Because many of my friends have got accommodation through Facebook.
Another way of finding accommodation is Instagram. To find an accommodation using Instagram then you can go to Instagram and search your college name then you will find Instagram accounts. For example – if you are in Seneca college then search like Seneca then you will find the accounts like Seneca rentals, Seneca accommodation, Seneca College. In many accounts, you will find photos of rooms and their address.
You can also go to the particular account and then their followers then you can ask each person that you are in need of accommodation.
Note: Be aware that never pay in advance for your accommodation.
Another way is to go to the photo’s comment section and then contact students who are commented there. Because many students are looking for a partner to share the room. So, that total room of price gets half.
Note: Again, I am telling you that never pay in advance. Just book it and say that I will pay when I will come there. Try to video call the person to whom you are talking about the room on Instagram.
There are fewer chances that you would get the rented room from Facebook and Instagram but you should try once if other options do not work for you.
Airbnb
You should get your accommodation in Canada as an international student using the above-mentioned ways but if you are not able to get accommodation even after using the above-mentioned ways then do not get afraid. Airbnb is another option. Airbnb is an online rental property company.
To find a room using Airbnb, you need to go to the Airbnb website and then search for a room. You can search like your area + available accommodation. Once you will search, you will get a bunch of places in the area in which you want to accommodate. After this, you need to check the rooms and their price if it matches your demand and budget. You can message the host or owner of that property and ask for a discount. You will see the messenger facility there on the website.
In my suggestion, you should book it for around 1 week because Airbnb is a little expensive in most cases. You will be able to find accommodation easily after 1 week because you will attend orientation at college and meet new students. Many students are looking for other students to share their room. So that rent gets half for each student.
