Many students want to come to Canada, but all not got success to reach Canada because there are some things through which you should pass and, in this article, we will be going to all the possibilities that how to go in Canada for study. I have broken down all the steps that are required to become eligible and finally go to Canada.

Why Canada?

The reasons why students want to move to Canada are stated below. Canada has become a great nation for learners. Many students from various countries are coming to Canada for study and this craze has been increasing as time passes. Almost every student has an ambition to study in a globally well-recognized college where equal importance has been given to both theoretical and practical knowledge along with curriculum activities and Canada’s colleges are at the top. Colleges in Canada have more focus on how students will handle work at the workplace when he/she will pass out from college. Apart from study, there are more income opportunities and wage is also high.

These are the reasons why students want to move to Canada.

What are the requirements to study in Canada?

As I told you that there are several requirements so we will go step by step one after one. Begin with, when we take a look at the requirement then one of the biggest requirements out of all is the IELTS exam. IELTS is International English Language Testing System and it is basically an English language test. You need to score at least 6.5 bands overall and 6.0 bands each. You might be in the confusion that what is band and what is this overall means, do not worry. If I explain regarding IELTS exam briefly then it is an English language test and will check and measure your standard in English. There are four modules listing, reading, writing, and speaking in ILETS. In each module, you will be graded out of 9 bands. The band is basically a marking system in which you will be graded, and modules are like subjects. In IELTS you are going to give four tests one on each module and for each, you will be graded out of 9 bands. The overall band means the average of all module’s band.

The second requirement is having at least 60 percent in the 12th final exam for students who have passed only the 12th class and for students who have completed their graduation they must have no back clock in the whole graduation. Of course, there are some colleges which accept your application even you have fewer marks in the 12th class or black clock in any subject.

You need to have no criminal records in your respective country because they would not accept your application, or your application will get rejected if you have a criminal case. You must submit a certificate, in the visa application file, that shows that you are not involved in any criminal activity.

These are basic three requirements that you must take into consideration. Many times, some requirement changes with the different colleges.

About IELTS Exam

Let us discuss more regarding the IELTS exam. There will be a different test for each module and there are four modules. If you are expecting that it is easy English and I would definitely clear this examination then throw it out of your mind unless you are a genius in English. Of course, if you are good at English then you can prepare less but I far as I know many students are struggling in English even I also when I just started preparing for IELTS but thing changes as we continue preparing something by heart and study regularly.

Listening Module

From the name of the modules, we can expect little about what we are going to study in an individual subject. In the listening module, you are going to listen to the audio recording and you have to answer the question while listing to the recording and for me, it was the easiest module.

Writing Module

Next, in writing, there are two tasks. In the first task, you will be given a diagram of a map or process and you have to explain it and, in the second task, you have to write an essay on a particular given topic. First task worth one-third (33.33%) of the total writing module and the second task worth two-third (66.66%) of the total writing module.

Speaking Module

In the speaking module, there are three parts. In the first part, you will be asked some introductory questions, in the second part, you will be given a cue card and you have to think about it for one to two minutes and then speak about that topic for one to two minutes. In the third part, you will be asked a follow-up question based on the cue card topic.

Reading Module

In the last module, reading you will have three essay-type articles and questions. You have to find out the answer from that article and write it down.

What next if we pass IELTS with a good band score and meet all requirements?

If you pass the IELTS with a desire band score then you are good to go on the next steps. Once you have clear the examination you have to consult the visa consultancy or agent and him about your destination that I want to go to Canada and tell him/her to show Canada’s college list.

Then you have to decide in what field you want to go with and after that, you have to decide which course you want to go in. Once you are sure about your course then start searching about the good colleges and of course you can ask an agent about the good colleges in Canada because they know that.

Request/application to college for offer letter

When you have decided about the college and course then your agent will send a request to the college for an offer letter. You have to wait for some days for the offer letter because some colleges take 15 days, and some colleges take up to two months and this period may fluctuate depending on the rush. After you receive your college offer letter means that you are accepted by your college as a student and then you have to pay fees in the college.

Fees structure

If we talk about the fees, then it might be around 15000$ to 18000$ per year (2 semesters) depending on your college and course as well. So, it will cost you around 30000$ to 36000$ for your two years course and most students choose two years course. If you are too going to pursue two years course, then it will cost you the same as I mentioned above but again it varies from college to college and course to course. Let us discuss how much you have to pay once you receive an offer letter from college? The answer is you have to pay one-year fees that are around 15000$ to 18000$ but vary with college and course. If this is high fees for you then, of course, you can initially pay fees of only 1st semester and that is half of a year’s fees. But I do not recommend you to pay a fee of only 1st semester, it is better if you pay fees for the first year(2 semesters).

The reason why you should pay the fees for the whole 1st year is that if you pay the whole 1st-year fee then your visa application will go in the SDS category and if you pay fees only 1st semester then your application will go into a non-SDS category. In the SDS category, there is a higher chance that you will get visa approval and in the non-SDS category, there is less chance that your visa application will get approved. Many non-SDS students also get visa gets visa approval but it is the safer side that you lodge your visa application file in the SDS category.

Once you pay your college fees then your agent will ask you for your documents such as IELTS TRF (mark sheet of IELTS exam), passport copy, your 12th class result, your college result (if applicable), income certificate, tax return, and many more.

Lodge Visa File

After handing over your documents, your agent will lodge your file for visa approval. Meanwhile, you will receive a date for biometric and then you have to go to Canada VFS for biometric. There is nothing hard in giving biometric only you have to do is giving fingerprint of your all fingers and thumbprint. It usually takes 1 month to get your visa application announced depending on the rush but in this pandemic, IRCC is taking too much long time. So, this is the whole process from IELTS to visa approval. You may have to pay little fees for biometric and getting an offer letter from colleges, but it is not a high amount of fees.

If you get your visa application approved, then you are good to go. You can travel to Canada for studying. So, this is the whole process of getting your visa and come to Canada as a student.
