Now, let’s talk about each essential document for an international student traveling to Canada.

Air ticket

You should carry your air ticket to the airport for a boarding pass that will be provided by the officer to you when you give him an air ticket (the officer will provide you when you give him an air ticket). We prefer you to book your ticket air India or air Canada airline during this situation. After getting a boarding pass, you need to show a boarding pass to officers for the boarding flight

Covid-19 report

You must have a Covid-19 report for boarding flights from other countries. There are 3 types of Covid-19 report. But you must carry the Covid-19 PCR report. The time duration between taking a COVID-19 sample to board a flight should be less than 72 hours. If your COVID-19 report exceeds 72 hours of duration, then you will not be able to take a flight they will send back you home.

Passport

You must carry your passport because, without a passport, you will not be able to travel and enter the airport. Never forget to bring and carry your passport with you. Be very careful in taking care of your passport.

All academic original documents from 10th standard onward

You are required to have all the original academic documents with you right from 10th standard to your last study either 12th or graduation whatever you have done recently. I have listed mostly all the documents in the below list. So, remember those and take them with you.

  • mark sheet of 10th standard
  • mark sheet of 12th standard
  • school-leaving certificate
  • all college mark sheets (if applicable)
  • degree certificate (if applicable)

Offer letter (Letter of acceptance)

Must carry your offer letter that you have received from your college or university when you are accepted in your college or university. Some universities provide an offer letter first then they give a Letter of acceptance, while others provide a Letter of acceptance directly.

Tuition fee receipt

You need to bring a payment receipt of the fees that you have paid in your college or university with you. That is provided by a college or university after your fee payment. It is better if you take a color print of all the documents along.

Receipt of GIC

Students need to bring either Scotiabank or ICICI bank’s GIC receipt. In short, a GIC receipt from a bank in which you paid your GIC. You need to bring a welcome letter of GIC also. But the welcome letter is not essential.

IELTS TRF

Sometimes Canadian immigration officers ask about IELTS. If you are asked, then you must show them your original IELTS TRF. Due to the covid-19 situation, those students who have not received their original TRF can bring a color copy of their e-TRF (electronic TRF).

Medical certificate

You should carry your medical certificate, which is a certificate that you put in your visa application file.

Birth-certificate

You need to have your birth certificate (in the English language).

Work experience certificate (Salary Slips) (if applicable)

If you have shown your work experience in your visa application file, you need to bring proof of your work experience. You also need salary slips or bank statements to which your salary is credited. A work experience certificate is very beneficial at the time of applying for a job in Canada.

Marriage Certificate (if you are married)

If you are married, then you need to carry a marriage certificate. It will be beneficial in near future for a spouse visa.

Enrollment letter

You will find it in your college or university profile account (website). Some colleges and universities provide it on request. This is considered an essential traveling document and very useful for immigration.

Travel support letter

Some immigration officers may ask you about this document considering it as an essential traveling. In this letter, college, or university states that your traveling is essential and without traveling study is very difficult.

PPR (Passport Request)

You can find your PPR from your GC Key account. It is a letter of passport submission for a visa. You can find it in GC Key if you put your visa application file online.

Biometric validation letter

It is a letter of your biometric. Generally, comes with PPR (passport submission letter).

Port of entry

The student will get this letter from the GC Key account once your passport gets stamped. This is an essential document you may have to show if you are asked.

AIP

If you have AIP, then come with that letter. Due to the covid-19 situation, some students got AIP before PPR request or some got direct PPR request.

Schedule of your classes

Sometimes officers may ask about your college timetable. Students, who recently traveled, told that officers asked him about his college timetable.

For quarantine

  • If you book your quarantine room in the hotel, then please bring your hotel receipt with you.
  • If you book your quarantine room in the home of a relative, then please bring a signed letter of undertaking (as you can see below) with the owner’s email id and phone number.
  • If your college or university book your quarantine plan, then tell the college or university to give you proof.
