How to score a high grade in any course while studying in Canada as an international student

Many students get scared and they think that they would not be able to score high grades while studying in Canada as an international student. But the reality is totally different. In this post, we will be going to discuss how to get a high grade of 85% plus in any course and is it possible if yes then how to achieve high grade while studying in Canada as an international student. This whole post going to full of information and excitement.

When I was in India, I had a mindset that studying in a foreign country is much harder because I got information from somewhere that it is hard to study in a foreign country because they focus more on practical and less on theory. Along with that, I had the mindset that it is easy to study theory but hard to do the practical study because in practice we might face the teacher or professor while doing the practical but that is not the case in theory.

But I was wrong because when I arrived here in Canada and started to learn in course of computer programming, I was like practical is best and too much easy than learning theory. If you also have the same mindset as me then it is totally going to change when you will start studying in Canada.

Let dive into the main part how to get 85% + in any course while studying in Canada.

In Canadian colleges assignments, quizzes, workshops, mid-term, and final exams all have weightage to result. So, your result of the semester will be made depending on your scores in all the above items.

I am in the second semester in a Computer Programming course and have completed the first semester successfully and got a 4 GPA out of 5. 4 GPA is maximum that anyone can get out of a 5 GPA. The meaning of 4 GPA is your percentage is between 85-100. So, I got full marks.

If you also want to get a high grade in any course, while studying in Canada as an international student, which you are in or going to pursue, you need to be perfect at some points which I am going to discuss.

Not take quizzes lightly

The first one is a quiz. Every subject in any course will have the quiz either on a weekly basis or monthly basis depending on the professor but quizzes will be there for sure in each subject or course. The weightage of quizzes will be anywhere from 10-30 % depending on the subject. 10-30% is a massive part out of 100. If you want to get high grades in Canada, then do not skip any quizzes. Attain every quiz and do proper preparation. Many students think that quiz has a small weightage let give quizzes for formality but those end up getting 2-4% out of 10%.

My suggestion is to do proper preparation for the quizzes. You do not have to do a lot of reading or practice usually quizzes are simple. If you have attained the lectures and do just a little bit of study, then you will get almost full marks in quizzes.

So, weightage of quizzes seems less but at the end it affects your result to massive extent.

Assignment

The second is assignment and it is the main point. In many subjects, assignments have a weightage of up to 40%. If you keep doing an assignment regularly on time, then you would get a high grade. Many students think that there is a lot of time to do assignments and they start the assignment very late and meanwhile they are not able to submit the assignment on time and they get 0 or lower grade. So, whenever you get an assignment of any subject then try to complete it as sooner as you can do not wait.

Along with that, you should not copy the assignment of a classmate or just copy the content from google or from last year’s student’s assignment. If you do that then you will get 0 on that assignment with a warning or get suspended from college if it is the third warning. In Canada, every college has software that checks either your assignment is plagiarized or not. Whenever you copy from your classmate, copy from google, or last year’s student’s assignment to your assignment then you will be caught and punished. So, do not copy from anywhere.

To avoid plagiarism, you must study the material that you want to add to your assignment then understand it, and then write it in your assignment in your words without seeing at original copy. So, keep in mind you should not be involved in any plagiarism case.

So, if you will do assignment on time and plagiarism free, then you will get high grade as your expectation.

Be motivated, encouraged and confident

Along with the study, these factors also play a vital role directly or indirectly in your performance. Never get demotivated because if you keep your motivation and confidence on top then the harder things will also look easier.

Mid-term and Final exam

Midterm and final exams have a weightage of around 30-60% in your final result. If you have attained the lectures on time, prepared for quizzes, and done the assignment then you need to study much harder on exam time because quizzes and do assignments are from the syllabus only.

My suggestion for exams is to start studying from the start of your semester. If you start from the beginning of the semester then you will never get a load at the exam time. Things will go smoothly. Keep a balance between study and work. Of course, you should work part-time but never forget to study. Study first and then jobs because if you fail in any subject then you have to pay around 1500$ depending on the colleges. So, it is better if we focus more on study than a job.

So, attain every lecture and study regularly. If you do these things, your mid-term and final exam will go smoothly like butter.

We have explained step by step process that how to get 85% plus while studying in Canada as an international student. Steps include quizzes, assignments, mid-term exam, and final exam. You should do and submit the assignment on time, be prepare and study for quizzes, and keep attaining lectures and study regularly. These are the key points to get 85%+.

It is easy to get high grades in Canada. Assignment and quizzes are vital along with exams. As you saw in my case I have got more than 85% in my first semester because I did plagiarism-free assignments on time, attained all the lectures, studied regularly on the same day as the professor teach me, and did proper preparation on every quiz.
